Hey, I’m Sarah.
I am bringing my background in business, environmental science and architecture together to drive sustainability forward.
My Background
Innovation
Innovation is not about constant novelty, but about understanding what already works and improving what does not. In the building sector, this means rethinking materials and methods. My work focuses on vernacular architecture, clay construction, and natural fibers. I am interested in developing building solutions that are both high-quality and genuinely sustainable, in collaboration with others who share this commitment.
Environmental Science
My academic background has focused on sustainability concepts and finding ways to quantify them through interviews, scientific experiments, GIS and modelling analysis. I want to use this expertise to help transform the building sector.
Architecture
Good architecture needs quality materials, planning and use. I am interested in working with creative individuals who are trying to push for energy-efficient designs, upcycling of waste materials and cradle to grave planning.
Master’s Thesis
Clay-Fiber Composite Material Testing
The potential of natural building materials is therefore being explored as a pathway for achieving sustainable development goals. My research explores the rheological, mechanical and thermal properties of clay-fiber composites. The potential of natural building materials is therefore being explored as a pathway for achieving sustainable development goals. Projects
Bachelor’s Thesis Sustainability in Ecovillages
Considering the uncertainty regarding the climate crisis and the consequences that will ensue, this thesis aims to gather an understanding of how alternative communities in the south of Spain and Portugal are approaching the topic of sustainability, a region highly susceptible to climate change effects.
GreenAnt: Communications Officer,
Pilot Project in Thailand
The role involved a variety of tasks related to executing the pilot project in Thailand. I went to conferences to search for funding, organized initial meetings and activities with local researchers and farmers.
